Description
This N-scale 4427 Covered Hopper is a ready-to-run model that faithfully recreates the Pullman-Standard PS-2 hopper design. Representing a 4,427-cubic-foot capacity car introduced in 1964, it’s built to haul bulk commodities such as grain on North American rails and arrives with razor-sharp painting and printing for a convincing, display-worthy presence on any layout.
On the rails, it features body-mounted McHenry knuckle spring couplers for reliable handling, screw-mounted trucks for accurate tracking, and roller bearing trucks riding on 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours. It’s weighted for optimum performance and designed to run on Code 55 and 80 rail, with a minimum radius of 9 3/4 inches. Packaged in a jewel box for easy display and storage, the PS-2 era 4427 hopper—introduced in 1964 to move more cargo per trip—remains a familiar, enduring sight on North American rails today.
